COMIC DESCRIPTION:
The fate of Baroness Mondford is definitely not the one to be envied. She fell victim to her implacable foes - a group of intrigantes hunting for the attention and benevolence of the king who used to favor our heroine. Their hatred was immense, so they had enough courage to accuse the baroness of the most hideous crime of that time - witchcraft.
The monarch, however, did everything he could to alleviate the dark destiny of his mistress - instead of being burnt at the stake on the main square she was only ("only" is a very ironic word, don't you think so?) despoiled of all her possessions and sentenced to row on a cargo galley. With nothing but a bold patch instead of a gorgeous mane of long hair, nothing but chains instead of the most exquisite dresses and no one but dirty seamen and guards instead of the monarch, she rows in the company of dozens of other female convicts toward what can be either death or a horrid life of torments and humiliation.
Finally the galley pulls up to the sandy coast of Africa. Baroness outlives many of the girls with whom she was sharing the ship's paddles - as it turns out, only to be sold to a family of Arab slave owners. Even if she hoped for mercy to come, now this hope is completely lost. Baroness is now being used as a draft animal and constantly abused - both physically and sexually. She seems to be down and out - but she still keeps on falling lower and lower. Will her fall ever stop? Time will show...
